Heathrow Christmas Advert 2018 leaves viewers in tears | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

WARNING: This article contains discussion and spoilers about the Heathrow Christmas Advert 2018.

It’s that time of year when the big brands battle it out to win the nation’s hearts and be unofficially named the best Christmas Advert.

Following last year’s offering, Heathrow have released this year’s advert, which features the beloved teddy bears.

Doris and Edward Bair, who were first seen in the London airport’s 2016 Christmas ad, are back and, once again, viewers are in tears.

Those who have already seen the video, took to social media to comment.

One said: “This is so heartwarming and it should win loads of awards #HeathrowBears.”

“With 47 sleeps to go it is nearly Christmas & I love the Bairs! Good old family values & what Christmas is all about, Family! Made my day. #TeamHeathrow #HeathrowBears,” another added.

A third said: “With 47 sleeps to go it is nearly Christmas & I love the Bairs! Good old family values & what Christmas is all about, Family! Made my day!”

“I’ve cried it’s so beautiful and a lovely song to go with it you never let us down with your Xmas advert thank you Heathrow,” one viewer replied.

“This gave me goosebumps!! #HeathrowBears,” a fan tweeted.

The short film, with Paul Young’s Everytime You Go Away, played in the background shows the happy couple enjoying their retirement in Florida.

Until Christmas day looms and they realise the prospect of spending it in their villa eating a boxed “turkey dinner”.

To cheer themselves up they decide to video their family back home, but the sight of a cosy British Christmas is too much for the Bair’s to take.

Spontaneously they abandon the sunshine state and head home for the holidays to surpass their family.

And the heartwarming scenes are rather adorable.

The most touching moments for viewers is when the very in love couple walk through Heathrow, which is where their romance first blossomed.

Ross Baker, Heathrow’s chief commercial officer has spoken out about the decision to revisit the Bairs.

He said: “The nation’s love for Doris and Edward is overwhelming and has been since we first met them in 2016.

“For many people, being close to the ones we love is what really makes Christmas special.

“This is why we see The Bairs return to their family from warmer climes, as many of Heathrow’s passengers make similar journeys home for the festive season,” he added to The Independent.
